Five years have passed since the idea of Blue Diamond Drama Academy was first muted and despite all the pre-planning and structural development of the founders of the charity, few could have envisaged the challenge of Covid-19 and its impact on social gathering not only in Ireland but world-wide.
In Blue Diamond Drama Academy we are looking for students with a passion and talent for drama and the performing arts. On the programme we will study Shakespeare, Improvisation, Voice, Physical Theatre, Acting for Camera and other modules. Students will work with text over the course of the 2 years, we will adapt tasks to the level of the student.
There will be a considerable amount of physical activity which will include dance and daily warm-ups. Over the course of the 2 year training the students will perform at the end of each year in a fully equipped theatre and will do practical projects which will include presentations and some research in their second year. The programme will support students develop their performance skills in addition to their confidence and communication skills.
One Love is a joyous exploration friendship and what it’s like to be in love and have a learning disability. Paul and Orla are engaged and making plans for their future, one love charts their journey towards their big day. Will Paul find a job in Dublin? Will his sister Nuala let him go? How is Paul going manage without the support of the Cork posse?
Blue Diamond Drama Academy is a new exciting initiative which is providing a 2 year drama training for talented adult performers with a learning disability. One Love has been researched and devised by the students and is the academy’s first public production. If you are interested in engaging theatre, this is not to be missed.
